Episode Topic: Kurt Vonnegut, the Metamodern: Understanding The Postmodern Writer Again
The speaker for Episode Two of the ESF Webinar is Prof. Cem Kılıçarslan.
Cem Kılıçarslan, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Türkiye. A graduate of this department, he has been teaching there since 1996, following the completion of his MA thesis on the two postmodern doomsday novels of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Generally publishing on science fiction and fantasy films, Prof. Kılıçarslan is also interested in digital independent filmmaking. A professional translator, he translated Quantum Nietzsche by William Plank into Turkish. Most recently, he coedited Bilimkurguyu Anlamak: Alttürlere Eleştirel Yaklaşımlar, which was published in 2021 and is working on two more books on SF and Fantasy. He is currently working on a book project on understanding American History in a global context.

The speaker for Episode One of the ESF Webinar is Prof. Paweł Jędrzejko.
Prof. Paweł Jędrzejko is a Polish literary scholar (an Americanist, a comparativist, as well as a translation studies scholar). The areas of his particular interest include the philosophy of friendship, the philosophy of existence, the history of 19th century American literature, the literary philosophies of the “American Renaissance” the oeuvre of Herman Melville, postcolonial and post-dependence theories, as well as translation theories. Prof. Jędrzejko is the co-Editor-in-Chief of the Review of International American Studies (RIAS) and the Associate Editor of Er(r)go. Teoria, Literatura, Kultura. He is the former president of the International American Studies Association (IASA) and a member of the Polish Association of American Studies, the American Studies Association (ASA), the Modern Language Association (MLA), and the Melville Society.
